Disney's Art of Animation resort is actually considered a moderate resort, even though it's walking distance from Pop Century. The resort is absolutely breathtaking, and consists of Disney Art inside out. It's divided into 4 sections: Cars, Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, and Lion King. I stayed in Finding Nemo and loved it!
The rooms are really basic but extremely family friendly. Cartoons are drawn throughout the whole apartment. As you walk in through the lobby, you see art work immediately across the walls. Comfortable beds and hot water always available. The food is pricey, but it's Disney, what do you expect? The pool is absolutely wonderful, and has a kid's section. They also play lots of games with the kids while they'r in the pool.
The only transportation to & from the parks is the buses, which tend to get really packed, are freezing cold, and leave you with a pretty generous walk to the front of the parks.
The best thing about the hotel is there are so many events for children going on, and some for adults too! Like Movies under the stars. Some nights they play Disney movies outside on a projection. The whole entire resort is a beauty. I'll be honest though, sometimes I've seen it priced the same as Coronado springs & riverside, and those are deluxe resorts.
