Who would’ve known that coupon cutter Desy would one day willingly pay $800 a night for a hotel in Disney World? Yup, you read right- $800. Oh, and I would do it again. This deluxe Resort is separated into two villages- Kidani and Jambo House. I’m assuming Kidani is where the bigger suites are being that the cast member who did my reservation said there were no two bedroom apartments in Jambo House. Kidani Village is a smaller version of Jambo House but both are magnificent. It is quite the walk between both so if you made dinner reservations in Jambo House but you’re staying in Kidani (like what happened to me) give yourself an extra 20 minutes of transportation time to take a bus to the other side & vice versa. The lobby is incredible and the detail is probably one of the most mind-blowing things about this resort, aside from being 10 feet from giraffes, zebras, and other cool animals. The rooms have just as much detail. The bathrooms have paintings of Lion King & there’s books for kids on animals. They give you an itinerary for the week on things going on in the hotel and a map for you to see all the animals available and where. The two bedroom suite was incredible spacious. It had two queen beds, a sofa bed, a king bed and a sleeper couch. 11 people fit comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped and it was spotless. The service was up to Disney standard. We arrived 4 hours prior to checking in and were able to check in by 1:30PM. It was fantastic and highly appreciated! Vallet parking was also quick and easy, and free if you’re handicapped. My family tried Boma for dinner the first night we were there and it was exquisite! It’s an authentic African style dinner buffet. I am a vegetarian so naturally I was worried there would not be many options for me, but there are actually 60 different things to eat. Thats not an exaggeration, according to our server there were literally 60 things including desserts to try. I was pleased with a lot of the food. I didn’t like all of it but it’s not a likely thing to like over 50 different things you’ve never tried LOL. Our server at Boma was very helpful and knowledgable. They were attentive to my mom’s nut allergy and she had no problem eating at the buffet. Now I will mention this place is pricey. At $50 per person, I would probably only come back here if I was actually staying inside animal kingdom lodge again. It was delicious but nothing in particular stood out to me and made me say “wow, I would come back to have this again!” Like It happens every time at Ohana or Tony’s town square restaurant.
It’s a great place to go for a first time experience though, especially if you’re staying on property. Animal Kingdom Lodge has several different stores with tons of animal themed march and let me tell you, it was difficult not to buy everything! From jewelry to clothing to hand bags, there were definitely items in these stores that I never seen at the parks. The animals were out the whole weekend that I was there. It was fantastic! We watched them while they ate, we watched them roam around; I will mention it was a cold weekend so I’m sure they were out enjoying the breeze. Maybe if it was super hot, we would not have been so lucky. We loved every moment of it . The pools at the resort are huge! It was too cold for me to enjoy them even though they are heated. There was people inside the pool at all times of the day. I could see and hear them from my balcony, especially the screaming kids LOL. Overall I would definitely come back. The resort was gorgeous and the service was spectacular. 5 stars from me!
